The Global Poker Index (GPI) Update
Shawn ‘Bucky’ Buchanan is one of the most talented poker players in the game. Adept at playing all forms of poker, the man known as ‘Bucky’ has won more than $4.7 million playing live tournament poker.
Rumour has it that he is a talented poker online player, as well! Well, as the sun comes out in June, Buchanan has moved back into the top ten of the Global Poker Index (GPI), after a short hiatus.
Buchanan is currently ranked third, after making it through the WSOP 2012 Qualifiers, to the final table of the World Series of Poker Event #22: $2,500
2-7 Triple Draw Lowball.
He also cashed in at the WSOP Event #26: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, in addition to a few other minor cashes.
The man who is normally sat on the top of the charts is Jason Mercier. Mercier remains in the top ten, but has to settle for fifth place, this time around.
Fifteen new players enter the GPI, this month, and they include recent WSOP bracelet winners, Simon Charette and Joe Cassidy, the mouth himself, Mike Matusow, and the English duo of Liv Boeree and Jon Spinks.
Each new entrant means a loss of form for someone else. The players departing from the GPI this month include Chad Brown, James Akenhead, Justin Smith, and Vanessa Rousso.
The biggest riser so far in June is Dan Kelly, who moves up a whopping 124 places to lie in 94th place. At the other end, the Russian powerhouse, Max Lykov, takes the biggest fall, and once again, the lead remains tightly in the grip of Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.
